What I translate in my music is pure expression, everything I do I try to keep it authentically me, 

I have so much belief in myself and my music so it’s not hard to just be myself. I bring a connection in my music and I do it in a way that makes sense to me. I try to reach out to myself as well as others.

Q. Hello, would you like to give us a brief introduction about yourself?

Hi, my name is Daryl Sperry, I’m a twenty-year- old singer/songwriter solo artist from Glasgow.

Q. Can you tell us how you started your music?

Well from a musical point of view, even before I began playing an instrument and started writing songs, I was heavily influenced by my family who consistently played the type of music you would want to brought up with, a large part of my childhood was spent listening to the Beatles tracks in the car driving places, artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Tom petty, Bob Dylan, Robert plant, Nirvana, the Rolling stones, stuff like that. So I had an idea what kind of standard I expected music to be, I had a knack for writing stories when I was young and I was very good at it, so when I began playing guitar at 18, song writing immediately followed suit. My family were all very musical and my younger brother was in a band, so for me I was completely driven to practice, learn and get better each passing day, I felt unstoppable in my mind-set. There was much I felt I wanted to show towards many people.

Q. Is there a musician who influenced your music?

Almost everything influenced me, I was a very impressionable person, I got so much energy from listening to musicians who I inspired to be. But what was the final main influence for me before I started playing was oasis. I was already a big fan of them but one summer I extensively listened to their albums and in particular the master plan, an album which consisted of B sides, It was amazing, at that point I decided I’m going to do it now, I want to write music, I had so much excitement.

Q. Is there a keyword that would describe your goals or values?

key word to describe my music is that I am a visionary.

Q. Do you have a episode with a fan that you remember?

Yes, it actually happened a couple of months ago, after I had finished a set an Irish man approached me and said “you looked good. That was amazing.” His reaction was genuine and I couldn’t have been happier to here that, it felt like such an ecstatic performance.

Q. What are the processes of preparing for your performance?

What I do is have a full body stretch, to loosen myself out, easing myself, I then spend about twenty minutes doing vocal warm ups to get my voice in best condition, I drink only water before I play to make sure my throat is clear, and after that I visualise my performance and picture it going well, afterwards I can go easier and sort of reward myself.

Q. What are the processes of preparing for your performance?

I have many songs with different means, but one that particularly sticks with me is keep the dream alive. Every day of every hour of every minute I see people that live a life where they feel they deserve more, and I wrote keep the dream alive to tell these people that they are completely right to feel this way, I express to them that dreams never die.

Q. What are your plans/goals for the future?

To get even better, to get a lot more exposure, broaden my horizons. I’ll do that by continuing to do what I’m doing.

Q. How do you want to be remembered? How do you want your music to be remembered?

I want to be remembered as a person who dared to dream, and done it my own way, I want my music to stand the test of time.
